MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) - In connection with the incident involving the incursion of Ukrainian UAVs into the territory of the Republic of Belarus, Belarus has sent an appeal to the President of the United Nations Security Council drawing attention to the need for Ukraine to stop provocative actions that threaten to drag Belarus into the armed conflict and cause it spillover into other countries in the region, BelTA learned form the pres service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Belarus reserves the right to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in case of a similar provocation,” the ministry said.
Belarus’ concerns over possible escalation of the situation in the region due to the aggressive and ill-considered actions by the Ukrainian side will be conveyed to the UN secretary general.
Belarus's position on the incident will also be issued as an official document of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
In a similar manner, Belarus has communicated its position to the Maltese OSCE Chairmanship, the Croatian Chairmanship of the Forum for Security Cooperation, the OSCE Secretary General, the OSCE participating States and Partner Countries for Cooperation.
