MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) - Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov held talks with ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn during his visit to Indonesia on 6 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties outlined plans to enhance cooperation. Maksim Ryzhenkov emphasized that strengthening ties between the EAEU and ASEAN remains a key priority for Belarus during its Eurasian Economic Union presidency in 2025.
Belarus confirmed its interest in acceding to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) in Southeast Asia and continuing constructive dialogue with ASEAN member states and partners.
The TAC, signed in 1976 by ASEAN members, serves as a peace treaty establishing a regional code of conduct. It promotes lasting peace, friendship, and cooperation through principles of mutual respect, non-interference, and peaceful conflict resolution.
