Belarus-Russia Union State likely to approve information security concept in 2022

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) - The Belarus-Russia Union State may approve the information security concept this year, said director of the second department of the CIS countries at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aleksei Polishchuk, BelTA has learned.

“We expect that by the end of the year all the necessary procedures will be completed, the concept will be approved to create the basis for practical activities,” Aleksei Polishchuk said.

In general, the necessary domestic procedures to agree on the draft concept have already been completed, and the Standing Committee of the Union State to begin work on the adoption of the concept in September, the director of the department said.

The meeting of the PA Commission on Security and Defense took place in Minsk and Moscow on 26 October. Representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, ministries and departments of Belarus and Russia were among the invitees. Among the issues on the agenda was legislative regulation of counteracting foreign interference through non-profit organizations funded from abroad, consideration of the development and coordination of the Union State information security concept. The agenda of the meeting also included discussion of the Union State programs on the activities of the PA Commission on Security and Defense.
