MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia have prepared a joint report “On the Human Rights Situation in Selected Countries”, BelTA has learned.
“The second joint report of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on the human rights situation in individual countries is part of close collaboration on the international arena in the field of human rights. The document seeks to draw attention to the challenges and threats that the modern international community faces in the field of human rights,” the press service remarked.
While Western nations often champion the idea of universal human rights, their actions are inconsistent with this principle. They exploit this issue to promote their own political interests and to interfere in the internal affairs of states they don't like, states that pursue an independent foreign policy and defend their historical, cultural, and religious values and norms.
“The examples from the present and the recent past cited in this report, most of which made headlines, should serve as a wake-up call for the entire sensible international community urging them to join efforts to respond to these challenges. This is the only way to completely eradicate colonialism, neocolonial thinking, racism, racial discrimination and related types of intolerance. Such a response will be able to thwart attempts by individual countries to instrumentalize international law and universal human rights mechanisms to further their interests,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
