MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation adopted the draft law “On the ratification of the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines on a visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and service passports” on 2 April, BelTA has learned.

The agreement was signed in Minsk on 15 November 2024 by Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov and Philippine Non-Resident Ambassador to Belarus Igor Garlit Bailen.

Introducing the bill Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov said that according to the agreement citizens of Belarus and the Philippines, holders of diplomatic and service passports, are exempted from the need to obtain visas for entry, exit, transit and stay in the territory of the states of the parties for a period not exceeding 30 days from the date of first entry. The total duration of visa-free stay cannot exceed 90 days in a calendar year.

The agreement does not limit the right of the competent authorities of the states to refuse entry or shorten the period of stay of a person in the other country if his/her stay is unacceptable or he/she is recognized as persona non grata.

The agreement will enter into force on the 30th day from the date of receipt through diplomatic channels of the last written notification on the necessary domestic procedures.
