Belarus PM’s visit to Pakistan over

ISLAMABAD, 16 October (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko has completed his working visit to Pakistan, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian government delegation is flying back to Minsk.

During his working visit, the Belarusian head of government met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The parties discussed cooperation, primarily in the implementation of industrial projects. Pakistan is interested in establishing joint ventures with Belarus in tractor construction and milk processing.


Roman Golovchenko also took part in the meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council. Belarus attended the meeting in the status of a full member of the organization. The prime minister stressed that Belarus had made an informed choice in favor of SCO membership. He also named the areas where Belarus could be useful to the organization and what aspects to focus the efforts and potential of the SCO. Among the proposals are the development of the SCO Development Bank, the SCO Development Fund, and the SCO Inter-Exchange Union. The Belarusian head of government emphasized the need to combine various integration associations in Eurasia. Other promising areas include the development of the SCO common transport and logistics space, boosting the exchange of experience in scientific research, technology and innovation with the subsequent introduction of best practices and solutions, deepening and strengthening humanitarian ties. He also called on the SCO countries to actively participate in the discussion on the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st century. Documents on cooperation were signed at the end of the meeting.

Belarus has been participating in the SCO since 2010 as a dialogue partner and as an observer since 2015. In July 2024, Belarus became a full member of the organization.
