Belarus, Oman hold political consultations in Muscat

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevgeny Shestakov is on a working visit to Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, on 13-14 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The central event of the visit was the 7th round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman. The Omani delegation was led by Undersecretary for Political Affairs His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Alharthy.

The parties discussed cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment and humanitarian spheres, plans to improve the legal framework of Belarus-Oman relations, as well as the regional agenda. They also discussed mutual visits and high-level events.

Belarus’ deputy foreign minister met with Undersecretary for Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Ibtisam Ahmed Said Al Farooji. The parties examined the possibilities to intensify cooperation in trade, economy and investment, as well as implementation of joint projects. They also considered launching direct flights between Belarus and Oman.

Yevgeny Shestakov also met with Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas. The parties discussed contacts between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries, including the establishment of a Belarus-Oman business committee. The parties welcomed closer contacts between the business communities of Belarus and Oman and reviewed the outcomes of the exchange of visits by business delegations in 2023.

On 13 February the Belarusian deputy foreign minister took part in the opening ceremony of the office of the honorary consul of the Republic of Belarus in the Sultanate of Oman.
