Belarus' National Assembly, Pan-African Parliament sign memorandum of cooperation

MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – The signing ceremony of a memorandum of cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Pan-African Parliament took place at the PAP headquarters in Midrand on 5 November, BelTA learned from the House of Representatives of Belarus.

The document was signed by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko and Chairman of the Pan-African Parliament Fortune Charumbira.
Granting the National Assembly of Belarus the observer status in this influential organization is an important step on the way of developing dialogue on any issues of mutual interest to Belarus and 55 African states.

Africa is a region with huge potential. There is a fierce competition for the right to work in this market. Belarus has gained a reputation of a reliable partner that builds cooperation on the principles of equality and mutual understanding. This approach differs from the patterns imposed by the adepts of the declining colonial system and opens up significant prospects for enhancing mutually beneficial economic and humanitarian cooperation.

African countries have 25% of votes in the UN. The strengthening of political ties with them through parliamentary diplomacy will help to promote peaceful, unifying initiatives and build a fair multipolar world.
