Belarus, Myanmar discuss industrial cooperation, product supplies

NAYPYIDAW, 27 November (BelTA) - As part of a highest-level state delegation, Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov held a series of meetings with Myanmar officials in Naypyidaw, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

At a meeting with Myanmar’s Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, the parties highlighted the positive dynamics and constructive nature of Belarus-Myanmar relations, their focus on continuing mutually beneficial cooperation, and the importance of implementing agreements reached at the highest level.

The parties also discussed regional and global issues, including matters of international security.

During talks with Myanmar’s Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Co‑Chair of the joint Belarus-Myanmar committee on trade and economic cooperation Wah Wah Maung, the parties reviewed progress in implementing agreements following the second session of the joint committee held in Minsk on 2 October.

Special attention was given to the projects to establish joint ventures in Myanmar. A roadmap for the development of cooperation between Belarus and Myanmar for 2026-2028 was signed.

On the same day, Maxim Ryzhenkov took part in the Belarus-Myanmar business forum in Yangon. The event brought together more than 100 representatives of business circles and government agencies from both countries.

Speaking at the official opening of the forum, the minister emphasized that Belarus and Myanmar are steadily deepening mutually beneficial, friendly relations aimed at improving the well-being of citizens in both states. He also highlighted the significant potential for cooperation between the two countries, which must be jointly realized.

During the event and following it, Belarusian and Myanmar companies held a series of negotiations focused on cooperation in agriculture and food, pharmaceuticals, the promotion of Belarusian automotive equipment, and the procurement of goods of interest to business circles.

Myanmar was represented at the forum by Wah Wah Maung and other officials. The Belarusian delegation included Industry Minister Andrei Kuznetsov, Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhayev, Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov, and Chair of the Bellegprom concern Nadezhda Lazarevich.

Talks between Belarusian representatives and Myanmar’s sectoral ministries discussed issues of industrial cooperation, supplies of agricultural, pharmaceutical, and textile products, as well as professional training.
