Belarus' MFA makes statement in connection with escalation of tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) - The Republic of Belarus is closely watching the positive developments in the process of normalization of the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and is sincerely interested in lasting peace and stability, unblocked transport communications in the South Caucasus region, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its statement in connection with the escalation of tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh, BelTA has learned.

“In this regard, we express our deep concern over the latest escalation of the armed conflict in Karabakh. We call the brotherly people of Azerbaijan and Armenia for restraint,” the statement reads.

“We assume that Baku and Yerevan will show wisdom and prudence. We express hope for the full and unconditional compliance with the agreements, signed by the parties with the mediation of Russia,” the statement runs.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is convinced that compromises can be reached by political and diplomatic means within the existing negotiation formats.
