Belarus MFA hosts meeting with UNHCR, IOM representatives

MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – Head of the Multilateral Diplomacy Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Irina Velichko met with UNHCR (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) Representative in Belarus Mulusew Mamo and IOM (International Organization for Migration) Belarus Chief of Mission Mahym Orazmuhamedova, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian diplomat expressed her gratitude to the UNHCR and IOM for their active cooperation with the country to provide humanitarian assistance to refugees and migrants stranded on the border between Belarus and Poland.

The parties discussed further interaction with the UNHCR and IOM offices in order to resolve the situation at the border as soon as possible, taking into account the best interests of asylum seekers.
