Belarus, Mexico show interest in intensifying inter-parliamentary cooperation

MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) - Belarus and Mexico are interested in intensifying inter-parliamentary cooperation. The matter was discussed during an online meeting of the working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of the United Mexican States with the MPs of the Congress of the United Mexican States, BelTA has learned.

The parties discussed the development of a friendship group with the Parliament of Belarus in the Congress of the United Mexican States, as well as the intensification of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The meeting also touched upon the upcoming presidential election in Belarus and the position of the Mexican MPs regarding non-interference in the electoral process. The parties also exchanged views on the current geopolitical transformation in world politics.

“First of all, I would like to thank you for this working meeting,” said Magdalena Nunez, member of the Chamber of Deputies of the General Congress of the United Mexican States. “I have been heading the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Belarus all these years. The friendship group with the Parliament of Belarus was first established in 2012.”

According to her, there are a total of 500 MPs in the Parliament of the United Mexican States: 250 women and 250 men. “This year  Belarus is running a presidential election campaign. I would like to say that you can fully count on our support for the sovereign choice of the Belarusian people,” Magdalena Nunez added.
