Belarus, Iran FMs meet in New York

MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian in New York on 22 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The parties discussed the key areas to intensify Belarusian-Iranian cooperation and joint steps to build up trade and economic cooperation,” the statement reads.

As BelTA reported earlier, Vladimir Makei is visiting New York on 21-28 September to participate in the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 76)

The foreign minister will speak at the General Debate of the 76th session of UNGA 76 and the UN Food Systems Summit and will take part in the ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends in defense of the Charter of the United Nations where he will discuss the topic of unilateral measures.

Vladimir Makei is set to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia and senior members of the United Nations on the sidelines of the General Assembly session.
