MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – Belarus is taking part in talks on the operations of the International Organization for Mediation, held in Hong Kong from 15-18 October 2025, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Justice told BelTA.
Belarus was among the first countries to sign the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation on 30 May 2025. The country is currently undergoing internal procedures necessary for the Convention to take effect.
Head of the International Cooperation Department Dmitry Tuskal is representing the Belarusian Ministry of Justice at the talks. The delegation also includes representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The talks in Hong Kong cover several key areas, particularly rules for mediating interstate disputes, international commercial and investment disputes, regulations on the work of the Governing Council, appointment procedures for the secretary-general and deputies, and staff regulations for the organization’s Secretariat.
The opening ceremony of the International Organization for Mediation is scheduled for 20 October 2025. The first session of the organization’s Governing Council will take place the same day. The session will approve the above-mentioned documents.
The Ministry of Justice noted that Belarus has been consistently supporting the initiative of the Chinese partners to set up the International Organization for Mediation, which will become the first institution in history to specialize exclusively in mediation for resolving international disputes.
The organization’s procedures are expected to be used to boost cooperation with Belarus’ friendly states in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America and will be available to business entities of the relevant states.
