Belarus’ Healthcare Ministry interested in Cuba’s pharmaceuticals, technology exchange

MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba will expand partnerships in the pharmaceutical industry, Belarus’ Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhayev told journalists on the sidelines of the Belarus-Cuba highest-level talks in the Palace of Independence, BelTA has learned.

The minister noted that the number of Belarusian pharmaceuticals registered in Cuba is on the rise. “As many as 52 Belarusian medicines have already been registered in Cuba, which represents quite a big progress,” the minister said. “Last year we started purchasing Cuban medicines, which have also proven themselves well,” he remarked.

Aleksandr Khodzhayev emphasized that there is great cooperation potential that should not be wasted. “I think that the visit of the Cuban high-profile delegation will have a huge impact,” the minister noted. He pointed to the high level of healthcare in Cuba. “We are very interested in the technologies that they have. We are ready to use them. In this regard, I want to specially mention Cuban cancer drugs and vaccines.”

He added that the range of Belarusian medicines supplied to Cuba is quite big and includes anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, among other pharmaceuticals.
