MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov held a series of meetings and events on 13 June, the first day of his official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the same day, Maksim Ryzhenkov met with Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, including mutual visits at various levels.
Special attention was given to inter-parliamentary cooperation, including interaction within international parliamentary organizations and friendship groups established in the legislative bodies of Belarus and Uzbekistan. The parties emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation, including at the regional level. They also touched upon expanding mutual trade, investment, industrial cooperation projects, and exchange of experience in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
In the context of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the parties discussed preserving historical memory in Belarus and Uzbekistan.
The Belarusian minister also held a meeting with with Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO) Ularbek Sharsheev. Maksim Ryzhenkov highlighted Belarus’ active participation in all SCO events, including RATS activities. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts in combating threats such as drug trafficking, cybercrime, and terrorism. He also expressed Belarus’ support for the reform process in RATS SCO, its institutionalization, and the expansion of its powers.
The Belarusian minister informed Ularbek Sharsheev about the upcoming III Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security and invited him to take an active part in the event.
Ularbek Sharsheev briefed Maksim Ryzhenkov on the main directions and priorities of RATS SCO, expressing interest in engaging Belarusian specialists in the organization's activities. He also thanked Belarus for hosting anti-terrorism exercises, in which RATS SCO specialists participated.
Maksim Ryzhenkov met with representatives of Belarusian business implementing major investment projects in Uzbekistan. They discussed ways to promote Belarusian products in Uzbekistan and across regional markets.
Talks with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov were the key event of the visit program. The parties acknowledged the high level of bilateral relations based on agreements between the leaders of the two countries.
The parties reached several agreements: to develop a comprehensive roadmap for cooperation in the coming years, review of the Belarus-Uzbekistan legal framework to update the institutional foundations of cooperation, and create a joint fund to finance investment projects.

The parties discussed trade and economic cooperation and high-level agreements in detail. Maksim Ryzhenkov emphasized Uzbekistan’s key role in the region and the potential to localize Belarusian production within the country.
The parties exchanged views on international and regional agendas, highlighting the importance of cooperation within the UN, CIS, and SCO, their similar approaches to shaping a multipolar world order, and the need for mutual support on international platforms.

It includes: the highest-level and high-level visits, a joint intergovernmental commission meeting on Belarus-Uzbekistan bilateral cooperation in Minsk, a Belarus-Uzbekistan educational forum in Tashkent, the 3rd inter-regional forum in Belarus, a tourism forum in Uzbekistan, and Days of Culture and Arts in both countries.

As part of his visit, the Belarusian minister laid flowers at the Ode to Fortitude monument in Victory Park in Tashkent and toured the State Museum of Glory and the State Museum of the Timurids History.
