
MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov arrived in Zimbabwe on a working visit on 15 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit began with a tour around Bison Agro Machinery. Founded in 2020, the company specializes in the supply and maintenance of modern Belarusian machinery, playing an important role in the development of the agricultural sector in Zimbabwe.
Maksim Ryzhenkov got familiar with the company's service facilities and infrastructure, and discussed with its management the prospects for expanding the supply of Belarusian farming, cargo and special-purpose machinery.
According to the minister, the cooperation between Belarusian manufacturers and Bison Agro Machinery strengthens Belarus' position as a reliable supplier of high-tech solutions for Africa and helps modernize Zimbabwe's agro-industrial complex.
This strategy goes in line with the principles outlined by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and is aimed at organizing integrated machinery supply centers that provide for service, warranty and post-warranty maintenance during the entire life cycle of the equipment.
The visit will continue with talks with the ministers of foreign affairs and international trade, higher education, innovation, science and technological development, mines and mining development. There will also be a meeting of the Belarus-Zimbabwe Standing Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
The program of the visit includes a meeting of the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs with the president of Zimbabwe as part of the Belarusian government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich and a tour of Belarusian agricultural machinery within the framework of the Zimbabwe Farm Mechanization Program.
A number of bilateral documents will be signed as part of the visit.
Prior to his visit to Zimbabwe, Maksim Ryzhenkov paid an official visit to Ethiopia. He held talks with the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timotheos. The parties agreed to step up work on the roadmap of cooperation, which is set to be signed at the level of the leaders of the two countries.
The Ethiopian minister of foreign affairs supported the position of the Belarusian counterpart that an intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation should become the main tool for the development of bilateral trade. At present, the issues of its establishment are under consideration.
