MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) — The Belarusian embassy in Canada should close by 1 October 2021. The decision is stipulated in Decree No.287 of the Council of Ministers of 22 May 2021, which was officially published on the National Legal Internet Portal on 26 May, BelTA has learned.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was instructed to take measures to close down the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Canada and to finance the corresponding expenses.
The resolution comes into force on the day of its official publication.
According to the website of the Belarusian embassy in Canada, once the embassy is closed Belarusian citizens residing in Canada will be able to apply for consular services at the Consulate General of Belarus in New York, the United States.
“Belarusian nationals with permanent consular registration at the Belarusian Embassy in Canada will also be transferred to permanent consular registration at the Consulate General in New York as of 1 September 2021. Those wishing to have permanent consular registration at another Belarusian diplomatic mission must submit the corresponding application for permanent consular registration at the Embassy of Belarus in Canada before 1 July 2021,” the embassy informs
Due to the closure of the embassy, deadlines are set for the termination of receipt of documents for consular action. All details are available on the diplomatic mission's website.
