MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – Belarus' official delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov will be in New York on 26-29 September to participate in the High-Level Week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Maksim Ryzhenkov will speak at the General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, meet with foreign ministers of the CSTO member states, take part in the ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, and the ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations.
The Belarusian delegation will use the UN platform to promote the ideas of a multipolar world and regionalism, to consolidate like-minded countries seeking a more just world order based on respect for the legitimate national interests of all countries.
A special emphasis will be placed on the illegal nature and destructive consequences of unilateral coercive measures that are instrumentalized by some countries in order to put pressure on sovereign states and further their own interests.
Other important issues the Belarusian delegation is going to highlight include food security, historical memory and the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, as well as traditional family values.
Maksim Ryzhenkov is set to hold about a dozen bilateral meetings with counterparts from Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the leadership of the United Nations on the sidelines of the General Assembly session.
