MINSK, 4 July (BelTA) – The Consulate General of Belarus in St. Petersburg opened in a new building on 3 July. The official opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Pavel Utyupin, Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, representatives of the Leningrad Oblast administration, the diplomatic corps accredited in St. Petersburg, public associations, and the Belarusian diaspora, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pavel Utyupin noted that the new building exemplifies strong allied relations between Belarus and Russia. “A solid century-old mansion has the unique spirit of the history of St. Petersburg, the history of Russia. The mansion opened a new chapter in its history thanks to the close fraternal ties between Belarus and Russia, the personal participation of our heads of state, senior officials of the foreign ministries, the government of St. Petersburg and personally Governor Alexander Beglov,” the Belarusian diplomat emphasized.

The deputy foreign minister pointed to the robust and effective cooperation between Belarus and Leningrad Oblast, which is reflected in strong bilateral trade figures and ambitious plans and projects.

Pavel Utyupin wished the Consulate General in St. Petersburg productive work in a new, more comfortable setting. He also wished his Russian colleagues and partners success in developing the region, including through closer ties with Belarusian allies.

The Consulate General of Belarus is located on 5 Tverskaya Street, in a historic building constructed in 1904. This building is also known as the Tetzner Mansion.
