MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – The CIS Executive Committee in Minsk is hosting a meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives, BelTA has learned.
The council is set to discuss seven items. Among them are the results of Belarus' chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States, the status of the plan of action to implement the CIS further development concept in 2021.
"Throughout the year, our country has consistently implemented the plan of measures of its chairmanship and the CIS further development concept. A lot of work has been done in this direction. The decisions taken were aimed at developing coordinated approaches to solving urgent problems in the CIS, and increasing the effectiveness of economic cooperation, socio-economic development of the CIS countries," said Leonid Anfimov, First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - Executive Secretary.
According to him, despite the pandemic restrictions, the CIS held face-to-face meetings of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of CIS Heads of Government. "They have passed the decisions to strengthen the effectiveness of cooperation between the CIS countries. Cooperation in various areas has been growing, primarily in economy, defense, humanitarian affairs, and also border cooperation in the fight against organized crime and terrorism and prevention of emergency situations," Leonid Anfimov said.
The permanent plenipotentiaries will also consider the draft agenda of the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers, which is due in Dushanbe on 8 April 2022.
In addition, the meeting will discuss the results of the activities of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives in 2021 and its work plan for 2022, taking into account the priority tasks of the CIS development.
