Belarus’ CEC accredits 456 international observers from 49 countries

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Accreditation of international observers is currently underway. They were invited by the National Assembly of Belarus, the Central Election Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“By 16 January, the Central Election Commission has accredited 456 international observers from 49 countries. They include parliamentarians from the CIS and non-CIS countries, representatives of electoral bodies, regional authorities, the diplomatic corps,  and independent experts. As for international organizations, we sent invitations to the CIS Executive Committee and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, and the youth organization of the Non-Aligned Movement. An invitation was also sent to the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR),” the press service informed.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that, in keeping with good tradition, equal conditions will be created for all observers, which will allow them to once again see the country’s openness, transparency, and, of course, peacefulness and hospitality.
