MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) - Belarus calls upon the UNIDO to work more closely with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Andrei Dapkiunas, Belarus’ Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, made the statement on Belarus’ behalf during the participation of the Belarusian delegation in the 52nd session of the Industrial Development Board of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), BelTA learned from the Belarusian mission in Vienna.
In his speech, the permanent representative of Belarus emphasized the increased demand for UNIDO services and expertise to promote sustainable industrial development, improve competitiveness and energy efficiency of production, and introduce modern technologies and standards.
The diplomat praised the commitment of the organization to take into account the priorities and needs of the member states as much as possible.
Welcoming the cooperation of UNIDO with international formats and integration associations, Andrei Dapkiunas urged the leadership of the organization to work more closely with the EAEU. The Belarusian diplomat named the strengthening of cooperation with middle-income countries as an important area of UNIDO's work.
Commenting on the interaction between Belarus and UNIDO, the permanent representative emphasized the need to launch the project on eco-industrial parks as soon as possible.
