Belarus' ambassador presents copies of credentials at Israel's MFA

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the State of Israel Yuri Yaroshevich presented copies of credentials to Chief of State Protocol of Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gil Haskel on 13 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties pointed to the unique nature and long history of relations between Belarusian and Jewish peoples. Close  historical and cultural ties serve as a solid foundation for expanding bilateral cooperation.

As a token of respect for the common historical heritage, Yuri Yaroshevich handed over to the chief of protocol a copy of a commemorative postal project dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the famous native of Belarus and the first president of Israel Chaim Weizmann. This anniversary was celebrated in both countries in November 2024.

The diplomats exchanged views on the situation in their respective regions and expressed hope for a speedy resolution of existing conflicts, for bringing back peace and stability.

Particular attention was paid to preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. They highlighted the importance of preserving history and the truth about the events of those years.
