MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – Belarus should prepare for the attempts of the West to discredit the referendum on the Constitution, Professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University, political scientist Andrei Manoilo told the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.
According to him, it will be impossible to avoid attempts to discredit the referendum on amendments to the Constitution of Belarus. “There will certainly be attacks and operations. You just need to get ready for this and anticipate all possible developments. There is no other way to protect yourself from it,” the expert said.
“Who will do this? The same people who tried to overthrow the government and arrange a coup d'etat in Belarus in 2020. This will be, first of all, an operation of Western intelligence services. All the dirty work will be done by intelligence services of satellite countries, and there will be an impression that they have their own problems with Belarus and act independently. This, of course, is not true. Intelligence services of Western countries, primarily the U.S. intelligence community and British special services, will run this operation from afar trying to minimize their direct involvement,” Andrei Manoilo said.
The main goal of Western forces will be to delegitimize the referendum, the political expert said.
