Armenia’s diplomat invited to MFA over incident at Belarusian Embassy in Yerevan

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Charge d'Affaires of Armenia in Belarus Narek Tiraturyan was invited to the Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry over an act of vandalism carried against the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Yerevan on 21 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

"The Armenian diplomat was informed in detail about the act of vandalism committed by a group of persons against the building of the Belarusian Embassy in Yerevan, the damage caused to the Belarusian diplomatic mission and apparently insufficient measures by the Armenian law enforcement to prevent it," the ministry said.

The Armenian side was reminded of the obligation of the host state to ensure the safety of the Belarusian diplomatic mission and its property and  security of the diplomatic staff as established by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and universally accepted.

"The Belarusian side assumes that the vandals will be identified, that they will compensate for the damage inflicted and will be punished in accordance with Armenian legislation," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed.
