MOSCOW, 29 September (BelTA) - CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas met with Armenia's Prime Minister, Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.
"Stanislav Zas briefed Nikol Pashinyan on the preliminary results of the work of the CSTO mission. The parties discussed its work and the current situation in the region," the spokesman said.
The CSTO mission headed by the secretary general of the organization and the chief of the CSTO Joint Staff was sent to Armenia in accordance with the decision of the extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council held on 13 September. The mission includes representatives of the CSTO member states, who are employed by CSTO bodies.
The mission has been tasked with monitoring and evaluating the situation on the ground in certain border districts of the Republic of Armenia and preparing proposals on further steps. The mission will also prepare a report for the heads of the states – members of the CSTO on the situation in the region and proposals on ways to normalize the situation, Vladimir Zainetdinov noted.
