MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Despite the unprecedented political and economic pressure, the Union State is standing tall, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said at a meeting of the 62nd session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 20 June, BelTA has learned.
"Despite the unprecedented political and economic pressure, the Union State is standing tall. Effective steps are being taken to ensure the sustainability of social and economic development, to prevent a sharp drop in living standards," Vladimir Andreichenko noted. “We know that the pressure will increase. So it is vital we work ahead of the curve and advance the integration across the board."
According to him, there is a special symbolism in the fact that the Parliamentary Assembly has convened for the meeting in the run-up to the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. "I hope that today's session will be held in a businesslike, constructive atmosphere and will contribute to the development of decisions aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation," Vladimir Andreichenko added.
