MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – Belarus' parliamentary delegation led by Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko took part in a meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA Council) in Dushanbe on 1 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
Prior to the meeting, Vladimir Andreichenko met with Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The parties discussed progress in implementing priorities of Tajikistan's presidency in the CSTO, the situation in the Central Asian part of the CSTO area of responsibility, ways to improve model legislative acts of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and to introduce them into the national legislations of the member states.
Vladimir Andreichenko informed Emomali Rahmon about the situation in Belarus and its foreign policy priorities. He also conveyed him greetings and best wishes of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko. In turn, Emomali Rahmon conveyed words of gratitude and best wishes to the Belarusian head of state and the entire Belarusian people.
Later on, the speaker held brief working meetings with Chairman of the Wolesi Jirga (the House of Representatives) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mir Rahman Rahmani and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Radovan Tvrdisic. The parties discussed bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The CSTO PA Council meeting discussed priorities of Tajikistan's presidency in the CSTO, convergence of national legislations of the CSTO member states, and interaction between national delegations of the CSTO member states in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
The council reviewed the military and political situation in the CSTO's responsibility area and took stock of the work of the CSTO PA observation missions at the elections in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in 2021. The CSTO PA Council adopted a statement on the unacceptability of foreign interference in elections in the CSTO member states.
