Ambrazevich: Belarus seeks acceptable and sustainable security guarantees

MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) - Belarus seeks acceptable and sustainable security guarantees for itself and its allies, Belarusian Deputy minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich said at the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Valletta, Malta on 5 December, BelTA learned.

“By being in this room, Belarus, like Soviet diplomats decades ago, is pursuing one goal that is clear to all. We, just like everyone else, seek acceptable and sustainable security guarantees for our people and our allies. We are ready to sit down at the negotiating table any time because we firmly believe that ten years of dialogue are better than a few days of war,” the diplomat emphasized.

Yuri Ambrazevich suggested facing the truth: “Is it possible to achieve this goal in the current OSCE format? The world has changed a lot in 50 years.  Greater Europe, even together with the United States, is only a part, albeit a very important and significant one, but a part of a huge new multipolar world that is gradually taking shape. Belarus is an additional confirmation of this”.
The deputy minister pointed out that all the attempts by the United States and the European Union to strangle Belarus with sanctions, to surround it with fences have crashed against the alternative in the face of allied Russia, strategic partner China, like-minded nations of the Global South, the global majority that is increasingly uniting among themselves.
