MOSCOW, 27 January (BelTA) –People in Belarus and Russia, unlike people in many countries, have a voice, Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik said as he met with leader of the parliamentary faction of the New People Party Alexei Nechayev in the State Duma on 27 January, BelTA has learned.
“Aleksandr Lukashenko's victory in the election once again confirms that the Belarusian people have become much more united after all the events they have experienced,” the ambassador said.
“We watch what is happening in the world and see that today there is no democracy in the world at all. There are no rules, either economic or political. The world is in a state in chaos. The basic values that were historically agreed upon after the Great Patriotic War - a just world order, decision-making at the UN level – have been unfortunately trampled,” he stated.
“I am very glad that our two states are not among the countries that are ruled from outside, where people have no voice. We saw the elections in Moldova, in Romania, and we are beginning to realize that those ‘democratic’ values defended by Western countries are worthless. This once again confirms the correctness of the path chosen by our countries to create the Union State,” Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik emphasized.
“We see that true sovereignty, self-sufficiency, independence are worth a lot,” Alexei Nechayev added.
