MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – It will not be an exaggeration to say that today China-Belarus relations of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership are in their heyday, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Wenchuan told the STV TV channel, BelTA reports.
“Our relations have a solid political foundation. The two countries view bilateral relations as long-term strategic partnership, have similarities in public administration and share views on many international and regional issues,” the ambassador noted.
Zhang Wenchuan remarked that both countries complement each other in agriculture, mechanical engineering, fundamental science and other areas. The friendly relations between Belarus and China also rely on strong human contacts. “There is a proverb in China - People's friendship and brotherhood are more precious than any wealth. Thanks to the joint efforts of the two peoples, China and Belarus will push their cooperation to an even higher level and help each other move forward and thrive,” he emphasized.
It was noted that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping established good professional and personal relations, met in person many times, and exchanged messages and letters at key moments, which gave a powerful impetus to practical cooperation in various fields. “In the future, citizens of China and Belarus will build on the course set by the leaders of the two states,” Zhang Wenchuan remarked.
The ambassador emphasized that the sanctions imposed by Western countries on Belarus had some negative impact on economic cooperation between China and Belarus, but they cannot bring China-Belarus relations to a halt. “In recent years, mutually beneficial cooperation has been steadily developing across the board, and its mechanisms are constantly improved. The cooperation is becoming increasingly fruitful,” the ambassador said.
