Ambassador: Belarus is a strategic partner, ally and friend for Kazakhstan

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – Belarus is a strategic partner, ally and friend for Kazakhstan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus Timur Zhaksylykov said as he met with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko, BelTA has learned.

“The relations between our countries are those of strategic partnership, alliance and friendship. It is a great honor for me to represent Kazakhstan in a friendly nation of Belarus as an ambassador. Despite a difficult geopolitical situation and a complicated economic situation in the world, we are consistently and progressively developing our relations across the entire spectrum, including in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres,” Timur Zhaksylykov said. “In this regard, I would like to note that the outcomes of Belarus’ presidential election held on 26 January gave us more confidence that our fruitful partnership and cooperation will continue,” the diplomat said.

The ambassador noted that Belarus’ presidential election was held at a high organizational level. The election outcomes confirmed broad public support for President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s policy that is aimed at raising living standards, maintaining stability and peace, strengthening sovereignty and restoring peace in the region. “President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was one of the first to call and personally congratulate Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on his re-election. We in Kazakhstan always sincerely rejoice at the successes of brotherly Belarus,” he emphasized.

According to Timur Zhaksylykov, Belarus and Kazakhstan are actively cooperating across the board. “There is active interaction between our governments. We are seeing an upward trend in interparliamentary contacts within the framework of interparliamentary cooperation groups, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS and the CSTO," the ambassador added.

The participants of the meeting are to discuss the state and prospects of Belarus-Kazakhstan inter-parliamentary cooperation.
