MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – Belarus-China interparliamentary cooperation has reached a high level, Sergei Aleinik, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of Belarus said on the sidelines of a meeting with the leadership of the National People's Congress of China in Beijing on 10 September, BelTA has learned.
Sergei Aleinik is participating in the International Legislators Forum for Friendly Exchanges, themed “Building Global Partnerships for Sustainable Development”. The event held in China brings together representatives from the legislative bodies of around 50 countries.
During the meeting with his counterparts, Sergei Aleinik highlighted the importance of the forum, which unites parliamentarians from various nations and provides a platform to exchange views and experiences across the full spectrum of international parliamentary cooperation, establish new contacts, and outline future plans.
He congratulated his Chinese colleagues on China’s successful chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the hosting of the largest summit in the organization’s history, whose outcomes aim to strengthen the foundation of Eurasian security and sustainable economic development.
“Belarus and China have much in common. Our countries jointly advocate for a fair world order, oppose the use of force in international relations, and emphasize the need for collective efforts to address global challenges. Belarus and China consistently defend each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and oppose interference in internal affairs. Belarus supports the One China policy and will never deviate from this firm and conscious position. Thanks to our leaders, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping, Belarus-China relations have reached the level of an all-weather and all-round strategic partnership,” he said.

Sergei Aleinik also drew attention to the active interparliamentary contacts, noting in particular that in June 2025, the second meeting of the high-level committee on cooperation between the legislative bodies of Belarus and China took place. “We are focused on substantive work within the committee, primarily on conducting parliamentary monitoring of the implementation of Belarus-China agreements reached at the highest and high levels,” he emphasized.
During discussions with Chinese colleagues, the topic of historical memory and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory was also addressed.
Chinese parliamentarians expressed support for more active engagement with Belarus and the expansion of experience-sharing with the Belarusian side.
Sergei Aleinik stated that interparliamentary cooperation is an effective tool to strengthen the multifaceted Belarus-China partnership.
As part of the Legislators Forum for Friendly Exchanges, the Belarusian delegation is also set to visit enterprises, local government bodies, and to study parliamentary practices in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
