Actions of Polish guards slammed as unacceptable

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) - The actions of Polish border guards against migrants at the border are unacceptable and violate all norms of international humanitarian law, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, RIA Novosti reported.

"What Poland has been doing is absolutely unacceptable. I think that tear gas, water cannons, and shots over the heads of migrants in the direction of Belarus… This all speaks to the desire to conceal their actions. They cannot fail to understand that they violate all imaginable norms of international humanitarian law and other agreements of the international community. Of course, they understand all this," Sergey Lavrov said.

According to him, one of Poland's goals is to avoid publicity, which is why they do not allow journalists to the Polish border.

The Russian foreign minister also said that Brussels applies double standards and puts itself in an uncomfortable position. According to Sergey Lavrov, during the Mediterranean migrant wave of migrants, the Balkan wave of migrants, the EU tried to solve issues collectively.

"Firstly, Poland acts outrageously, and secondly Brussels is applying such blatant obvious double standards that it cannot but understand that it puts itself in a very uncomfortable position," Sergey Lavrov said.
