On 5 July, the National Academy of Sciences hosted a ceremony to welcome the participants of the 16th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition. On 30 October 2023 the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus gave a solemn start to the 16th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition. A team of thirteen people headed by the experienced polar explorer Aleksei Gaidashov set off for Antarctica. The expedition included researchers of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Belarusian State University, Brest Regional Clinical Hospital and other organizations of the country. Belarusian polar explorers returned to Minsk in June 2024.
