The K9 unit at Minsk National Airport is an additional control measure in aviation security. Instructors with service dogs patrol the airport terminal complex. The main purpose of patrolling is to prevent the smuggling of explosives and devices both on board the aircraft and the airport grounds. Specialists also perform pre-flight inspections. If necessary, they inspect luggage compartments, storage rooms, cargo, mail, on-board food. There are four breeds on duty at the airport - German and Belgian shepherd dogs, English cocker spaniel and hunting Russian spaniel.
