All 40 boys and girls survived. Among them is Frida Reizman. Despite her venerable age, she visits Porechye every year. This year was no exception.
On the Jewish calendar, 26 May is the Day of Salvation and Liberation. This day commemorates the defeat of Nazism and the liberation of Jews and other ethnic groups from extermination.
Frida Reizman visited the place she calls her second home. The house of Frieda's savior, although slightly rebuilt by their heirs, still stands in its original location.
She strolled around the cozy courtyard and talked to its new owners. It belongs to the grandson of Poladia Shashok, thanks to whom six-year-old Frida survived. In the early 2000s, at the initiative of Frida Reizman and Maya Krapina (former prisoners of the Minsk ghetto), a granite slab with words of gratitude to local residents was erected on the outskirts of the village of Porechye near the stele commemorating the Kalinin Partisan Brigade.
