People understand why elections are held and are active, Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of Belarus, Igor Karpenko, said during a press conference at the CEC information center on 25 February. The CEC head added that 1,284 territorial, 110 district and 5,411 precinct election commissions were working on the single voting day. The voting process is monitored by 45,505 national observers and 294 international observers.
