A festive rally dedicated to Victory Day was held in the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex. About 60,000 people took part in the event. In a solemn atmosphere, representatives of local authorities, MPs, military personnel, members of public organizations, diplomats laid flowers and wreaths at the Eternal Flame. Those present observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of the defenders and civilians who died during the Great Patriotic War. The rally wrapped up with a march-past by the soldiers of the Brest garrison through the Ceremonial Square.
