SHARJAH, 28 March (BelTA - Emirates News Agency) - Sharjah is gearing up
to host the Ocean Man Championship for the first time, bringing one of
the world’s top open-water competitions to Al Khan Beach on 19-20 April.
Organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), the event will
welcome professional athletes, amateur swimmers, and water sports
enthusiasts for an action-packed weekend.
Swimmers of all levels will have a chance to test their endurance in a series of races. The 10-kilometer race is the ultimate challenge for experienced swimmers, while the 5-kilometer race offers a tough but a manageable distance for intermediate competitors. For those looking for a shorter but still competitive swim, there will be a 2-kilometer race, while a 500-meter sprint will give families and young swimmers an opportunity to join in the fun. Teams can also take part in a 3×500 meter-relay, adding a high-energy group element to the event.
Sharjah’s decision to host the championship highlights its commitment to promoting sports and healthy lifestyles, while strengthening its reputation as a key destination for international sporting events. The competition is expected to attract swimmers from across the UAE and beyond, creating a lively atmosphere along the city’s scenic coastline.
