LoL World Championship to take place in S. Korea in 2027

SEOUL, 10 January (BelTA - Yonhap) - The annual world championship of League of Legends (LoL), one of the most popular computer games across the globe, will take place in South Korea in 2027, its organizer said.

The championship, also called the Worlds, will be held in China this year in October, North America next year and here in 2027, according to Riot Games.

South Korea hosted the Worlds in 2023, where its local team, T1, won its fourth trophy. T1, led by star player Faker, also won the Worlds 2024 held in Europe.

Riot Games plans to host three international events every year starting in 2025, the newly created First Stand Tournament, Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the world championship.

The inaugural First Stand Tournament is set to take place in Seoul on March 10.

This year's MSI will be held in Vancouver, Canada, on June 27, and next year's event will be held in South Korea.
