Yazd is emerging as a unique tourist destination after UNESCO added the
city's traditional art of goldsmithing to its Lists of Intangible
Cultural Heritage. This was reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of

The beauty of gold in Yazd lies not only in the precious metal itself but in the skilled hands that shape it into art, for in this ancient city, gold has become a reflection of its deeply rooted cultural identity, passed down through generations in its famous gold bazaar.
Although gold jewellery and ornaments have long been manufactured in various Iranian cities, Yazd gold stands out for its unique design and the quality of its alloys. Its purity of 20 carats, one of the highest available, is combined with distinctive physical traits such as softness, flexibility, and long-lasting resistance to corrosion and discolouration.
Archaeologists have traced the city's goldsmithing back to the Parthian era, noting that over the past 2,000 years, Yazd artisans have crafted gold for kings and nobles, cementing the city's reputation in the national and regional jewellery trade.
