MOSCOW, 25 July (BelTA - TV BRICS) - Iran's Natural Resources and
Watershed Management Organisation has launched a national campaign to
plant one billion trees over the next four years. This was reported by
IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The programme aims to enhance vegetation cover, combat desertification, and improve the country’s climate resilience. According to the organisation’s head, Ali Teymouri, this initiative is a vital step towards restoring Iran’s ecosystems.
A digital platform will track the
production and planting of saplings, requiring regional natural
resources departments to register detailed data for effective monitoring
and documentation.
As part of the implementation strategy, local offices have been instructed to identify areas with poor vegetation cover and undertake afforestation on plots ranging from five to fifteen hectares in each county.
