AL DHAFRA, 13 December (BelTA - Emirates News Agency) - The Liwa
International Festival 2025, Abu Dhabi’s ultimate winter destination, is
set to kick off on Friday with its signature opening event, the Free
Style Car Show.
The event will take place at the renowned Moreeb Dune arena under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region.
Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in collaboration with the Liwa Sports Club, this 23-day festival promises an exceptional lineup of entertainment and cultural experiences, combining skill, challenge, and excitement.
The Free Style Car Show will begin on Friday and continue for two days, from 6:00 pm to midnight. Over 130 cars from various categories are expected to participate, showcasing drivers’ exceptional skills through iconic moves such as “Al-Okda,” “Al-Khaba,” and controlled drifts.
Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Chairman of the Liwa Sports Club, stated, “The Free Style Show is the perfect start to the Liwa International Festival, highlighting Moreeb Dune as a unique sports and tourism icon that attracts thousands of participants and visitors from around the world each year.”
He added, “Through this festival, we aim to spotlight Al Dhafra as a comprehensive tourism and sports destination, offering a seamless blend of adventure sports and cultural activities. The pinnacle of the event, the Moreeb Dune Climb, serves as the festival’s grand finale.”
Al Qubaisi praised the significant support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasising that the continued backing of the UAE leadership has transformed the festival into a platform that bolsters the country’s position as a global hub for cultural and tourism events.
Running from 13th December 2024 to 4th January 2025, the festival offers diverse sports competitions such as the Moreeb Dune Climb, car and bike races, and traditional activities like camel racing and falconry.
