Belarusian State University to host Mexican Cultural Festival

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – Belarusian State University will host Mexican Cultural Festival 2021 on 25 May - 3 June. The event aims to promote the culture of South America, develop cooperation with Mexican universities and to provide support to the international festival movement and creative exchange, BelTA learned from the press service of the university.

Representatives of the embassies of Cuba, Venezuela and Mexico will take part in the opening ceremony. The photography exhibition "Cozar Nostra: Posters of Xavier Cozar" will be unveiled on this day too.

The best works of Mexican, Cuban and Venezuelan cinema in Spanish with Russian subtitles will be screened for seven days. Among them will be Arturo Ripstein's The Holy Office and El imperio de la fortuna, Tomas Gutierrez's comedy Strawberry and Chocolate and others.

The festival will also host a series of educational lectures. Mr Carlos Cruz from the Universidad Veracruzana will tell about the history of Mexico, Viktoria Gurinovich,a translator and teacher of Spanish, will make a lecture on Mexico's contribution to world culture, the representative of the Cuban Embassy in Belarus Marta Olga Carreras Rivery will talk on the topic of multiculturalism of her country.

Admission to the festival is free.

The first Mexican Cultural Festival was held in Minsk on in 2019. The event is organized by Mexico's Universidad Veracruzana (UV) and Belarusian State University (BSU).
