Belarusian judokas clinch four medals at tournament in Russia's Chelyabinsk

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes took part in the international Grigory Verichev Memorial Tournament in Chelyabinsk, Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus.

Competing in the tournament were 213 athletes (150 men and 63 women) from seven countries. Apart from hosts, taking part in the event were 18 judokas from Belarus, and also athletes from India, Uzbekistan, Israel, Tajikistan and Mongolia. The tournament featured 14 medal events. Yana Makretskaya claimed the champion title in the women's 63kg. Darya Kontsevaya took bronze in the 78kg event. Kseniya Danilovich also collected bronze in the 52kg event. Yahor Varapayeu claimed silver in the men's 90kg event.

This year the Grigory Verichev Memorial Tournament in Chelyabinsk took place at the status of a stage of the Russian Judo Tour series. The competitions were held as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Russian Judo Federation.
