Winter festival Berestye Sledge in Pinsk

The Belarusian city of Pinsk hosted Brest Oblast’s third winter festival Berestye Sledge on 20 January. The festival took part in the historical part of the city and gathered thousands of local residents and guests from other regions. They could participate in a running race and take a dip in an ice hole on the bank of the Pina River. A parade of stylized vehicles led by Ded Moroz [Grandfather Frost] and Snegurochka [Snow Maiden] on a sledge was one of the most impressive events of the festival. A book of records had also been created ahead of the festival. The first achievement was the creation of the largest amount of Polesie porridge that could feed 1,500 people.
