Native American tribes call April's full moon the "Pink Moon" due to the pink blossoms of creeping phlox that bloom at this time of year. The moon will be clearly visible in the night sky over the coming nights, weather permitting.
The moon itself does not turn pink. However, this springtime name for the full moon has long been known in many countries.

In fact, scientists say that the moon's color changes only during a total lunar eclipse, when the Earth's atmosphere refracts sunlight, giving the moon a red hue.
The Pink Moon is also called the Paschal Moon, as Christians use it to determine the date of Easter.
