Nizhny Novgorod in the lens of BelTA’s photographer

The ancient city of Nizhny Novgorod, the gem of central Russia, has been mentioned in chronicles since 1221. Today, it serves not only as the heart of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast but also as the administrative center of the Volga Federal District. It is situated at the confluence of two major rivers, the Volga and the Oka, which divide the city into two parts. Within its territory lie more than three dozen lakes and 12 rivers. Nizhny Novgorod is the seventh-largest city in Russia by population and ranks among the thirty largest cities in Europe.
